Dr Sarah Sims
Dr. Sarah Sims is a 2013 graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia
College of Veterinary medicine. She has been a part of this practice since
2015, and purchased it from Dr. Jane Brawley in 2017. Her special
interests include dentistry, cardiology, and end-of-life care. She puts a
great emphasis on conditioning puppies to enjoy their vet visits, and
preventing discomfort whenever possible.
She shares a home with her husband, son, 2 dogs, and dozens of freshwater
fish, and she shares a clinic with 2 cats. Her interests outside her work
and family include aquaculture, watercolor, and yoga.
Elizabeth is a Kansas City native and a 2002 graduate of the Maple Woods Veterinary Technology program. She started working at Picture Hills in the spring of 1997 as a kennel attendant and has been here ever since! She is currently serving as a Veterinary Technician and Practice Manager. When she isn't at work, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her dogs, cross stitching and other crafty related things, photography and maintaining her aquariums. She and her other half, Josh, share their home with 1 dog, and cat Popcorn.
Kasey has been a part of our team since 2011. She too, started as kennel and has worked up from there. She is currently studying to be a Veterinary Technician thru the Penn Foster online program. Kasey and her husband share their home with human and dog kids. They have Bailey, Allison and Christian (their 2 legged kids) and Rennie, Parker and Henry (their furry kids).
Dr. Jane Brawley, DVM
Dr. Brawley is a 1982 graduate of the University of Missouri at Columbia. Dr. Brawley opened Picture Hills Pet Hospital in 1989, and incorporated it in 1999. She is married to a veterinarian who cares for farm and companion animals at his own practice in their hometown of Plattsburg, Missouri, a small town about 30 miles north of Kansas City. They have two grown children.
Dr. Brawley has two adorable dogs, Val and Leo, that are Standard Poodle/Bloodhound mixes.
Originally from Maryville, MO Leanne graduated from Northwest Missouri State University with a Bachelors degree in Biology. She not only has a soft spot for our furry pets but also all thing botanical and aquatic. Her husband, daughter and herself currently share their home with their obnoxious Lab/Aussie dog King, the pretentious ragdoll kitty Serling, and the 2 domestic black and white kitty sisters Cuddles and Orchid.
Destinee has worked as a part of our team since 2017. She is working hard getting her degree in Veterinary Technology degree at Maple Woods and will graduate in spring of 2020. While she loves all furry babies she has a sweet spot for all things feline. She LOVES the challenge of winning our feline friends over, especially the feral kittens! Her scant leisure time is spent tending her succulent and cactus collection, hanging out with her boyfriend and spending quality time with her feline roommates Joey, Max and Oliver.
Dr. Teri Petifurd
Dr. Teri Petifurd is a 2013 graduate from University of Missouri, Columbia. She has been a member of our team since January of 2020. Dr. Petifurd's interests are internal medicine and soft tissue surgeries. She also has a soft spot for geriatric patients!
She lives with her husband, step-son, two dogs and a cat. In her free time she enjoys playing volleyball, hiking and crafting.
Jessica is the newest member of our team and has seamlessly fit right in! A dog lover at heart, she shares her home with her husband and children - 2 preteens and a teenager - WOW! They recently adopted a lovely pup and graced her with a title fitting to any true blue Kansas City native - Royal. In her spare time, she enjoys photography, remodeling her home and is an autism advocate!
Tess Alpert is a native of Kansas City and joined our practice fall of 2019 as our Customer Service Representative. Tess enjoys working with animals so much she left a cooperate desk job to work with us. Tess has a fiance and is a mother to a little girl Mila and furry pitbull Gusto. In her free time you can find her listening to music, painting and spending time with her little family!
